Oldies But Goodies
September 12th, 2009. Categories: Illustration.I’ve had my account on Deviant Art for about three years now, but I actually had another account before I started my alexheberling account. My usual username and variations at the time (Areku [with or without -chan]) were already taken, so I came up with the name Clouded Judgement to use instead. Now, seeing as it’s a rather pretentious name, I grew tired of it after awhile, and thus I switched to an account bearing my real name, as that was around the time I decided not to use handles anymore. Unfortunately, DA is one of those places that doesn’t allow users to change their usernames at all, hence the whole new account.
Nonetheless, I remembered my old account today and decided to log in to it to sort the old gallery and spruce things up in general, only to find I had about 200 messages waiting for me. (I’m rather astonished at the response this picture has gotten in the intermittent years.) Once I got through those, I started looking at my old art and thought some of it merited reposting here.
For this first round, some things I drew with the media available during my time working at Jimmy John’s. I worked third shift for my first 6 months there, and the stretch of hours before the surrounding bars all closed often left me without much to do.
Sharpie and ballpoint on a brown paper bag. I don’t have the bag anymore. :( For some reason, we had brown bags for a short period. (JJ bags were white, normally.)

While I may do digital for 99% of my finished work, I do enjoy sketching, especially with ink.
