Fitness Roundup

I haven’t touched on my fitness goals lately.  I’m making slow progress, but progress nonetheless, and have lost approximately a pound per week since starting.  I haven’t gotten a whole lot of exercise in the past 5 weeks, but clearly portioning has had a LOT to do with my weight gain in the past few years.  I logged all my food for several weeks and have been pruning down portions to the point that I think I’m eating something like 2/3 to 1/2 of what I was before.

It’s actually been quite a nice supplement to being frugal, as well.  If I eat less food, I don’t have to go grocery shopping as often, and therefore I spend less.  I’ve slacked off a bit in logging my food in the last 7-10 days, but the portion control is now habit, so I figure I’m good in that department.  Like they say, if you do something for 30(?) consecutive days, it becomes a habit.

Since the weather’s been a bit nicer in the last few days, I’m hoping to get outside a bit more.  I walked home from work on Monday, which was also my most recent weigh-in.  As I said, I’ve lost about 5 pounds overall, and since it’s been about a month since I started, I decided to check my measurements.  (I weigh weekly and measure monthly.)  To my surprise, I’ve lost around an inch in every measurement I took.  (Bust, underbust, waist, hips, upper arms, thighs, knees, and calves.)

Since it’s been such a gradual change, I hadn’t fully noticed it until I saw it down on paper, next to my initial measurements.  But it was definitely a good feeling, and I am refreshed and focused again in my goals.
