Martini Time!

January 25th, 2009. Categories: Projects.

Every year for the past six years or so, my parents have thrown a martini party in the dead of winter to liven up this bleak season.  I’m in charge of designing the invitation every year, to (in my mother’s words) put that art degree to use.

The first several years we did variation on the theme “Come in From the Cold,” so many invitations had a design of dark, gloomy clouds transitioning into a blue sky, like so:

In 2007, the theme was the same, but we went with less weather references and I instead drew an actual martini:

Last year, I did a much more graphic-designerly invitation.  I didn’t actually make it to this party, since Columbus got hit with a bad snowstorm that weekend and we would’ve been arrested upon leaving the county, for driving during a snow emergency.

You can definitely kind of see my progression as I moved through my college years, since the designs get a bit more sophisticated as the years go by.

This year, my mom requested I actually draw her and my dad for the invitation, so this is part of the new design.  My parents!
